Tom has excelled at all endeavors in his life, including his successful real estate career. He began his first career in the information technology world as a computer programmer analyst where he quickly rose into the ranks of management, working with government agencies and private industries to create innovative solutions to real world problems. Tom's advancement to senior management with one of the Big 5 consulting firms gave him a strong background in financial management and negotiating skills. His background combined with his analytical, problem-solving and information technology skills, plus his drive, motivation dependability and honesty, enables him to consistently deliver first class real estate services to his clients.
Love of home and commitment to Silver Spring
Tom moved to the Highland View neighborhood of Silver Spring in 1993 when he bought his 1938 Cape Cod in nearly original condition. Along with his dad, friends, and some help from neighborhood contractors, he has expanded and completely renovated his home from the top to bottom and it was featured in the neighborhood Home & Garden Tour in 2000. His experience and knowledge of home renovation enables him to consult and guide sellers to maximize their return on investment. Buyers appreciate his in-depth knowledge of all of the close-in Silver Spring neighborhoods.
When he's not working with sellers or zipping around Silver Spring with buyers, Tom enjoys spending time at home with his partner Jimmy and their two dogs, Copper and Gigi. An avid gardener, Tom especially enjoys the multi-tiered koi and goldfish ponds he built in 2001. In addition to gardening, Tom loves to entertain and put Jimmy's culinary talents to the test. Their backyard is a favorite hang-out and party spot for all of their friends, neighbors, family and Northgate Realty colleagues.
Love of adventure travel
Tom spent his college summers as a whitewater canoe guide in northern Maine and the adventure "bug" is still with him today. An avid scuba diver, Tom has spent many vacations underwater in both the eastern and western Caribbean, and looks forward to one day tackling Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Tom's favorite vacation to date was his seven-day whitewater adventure down the Colorado River. "The thrill of the river combined with the awesome beauty of the Grand Canyon was just spectacular."
